Frequently asked questions
Short answers to what people actually ask us. If yours is not here, a real person answers every channel on the Contact page.
Who operates StarPlace?
Connect Plus Ltda, a Brazilian company (CNPJ 66.180.802/0001-39), with its registered address published on Operator Identification. StarPlace is an independent marketplace and is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Cloud Imperium Games or Roberts Space Industries.
How does the escrow actually work?
You pay, and PayPal holds the money — the seller does not have it yet. The seller then sends the item as an official RSI gift and submits proof. The funds are released to the seller after you confirm receipt, or automatically 7 days after payment — once the seller has submitted proof of delivery — if you take no action and no dispute is open. The clock starts when your payment is confirmed, and the seller's proof does not restart it. If a dispute is opened, the money stays held until it is decided. How It Works walks through each step.
What is a giftable item?
A ship, CCU, game package or pledge that has never been gifted before and can therefore be sent from one RSI account to another through CIG's own gifting system. Once an item has been gifted and accepted, it can never be gifted again — which is why listing anything that is not giftable is a violation of these rules.
Do I have to give anyone my RSI password?
No, and you never should. StarPlace never asks for, accesses or shares account credentials. The only thing a seller needs is the e-mail address of the RSI account that receives the gift. Selling, buying or sharing RSI accounts is banned here and results in a permanent ban. Anyone asking for your password is running a scam — report it from Contact.
How long does delivery take, and what does it cost?
Delivery is digital and free — there is no shipping cost, no carrier and no address. The listing shows the seller's own estimate, and that estimate is what we hold them to. The details are on Delivery.
What if the seller disappears after I pay?
Your money never left escrow, so nothing is lost. Open a dispute from the order page within 7 days of payment — before auto-release — and a StarPlace person reviews both sides and decides. See Returns for the window and Refunds & Chargebacks for how the money comes back.
Can I get a refund after I accepted the gift?
No. Once the gift is accepted on your RSI account the entitlement is consumed and CIG does not reverse the transfer — no marketplace can undo it. Before you accept it, your right of withdrawal still applies: 14 days in the EEA and the UK, 7 days in Brazil. Returns explains the exact windows.
Are sellers checked?
Yes. Every seller application is reviewed and approved by hand before that person can list anything, and applications since 15 July 2026 require a contact number on file. Listings themselves go live immediately once an approved seller publishes them — we tell you that plainly rather than promise a review of each listing that does not exist. Safety covers the rest of the protections.
How much does it cost to sell on StarPlace?
There is no listing fee and no monthly plan. Sellers pay a one-time seller license with the application — refunded in full if the application is not approved — and a fee on each completed sale, deducted from the payout and shown in the listing form before you publish. The cost of the payment method is never taken from the seller's payout. The current amounts, with examples, are on Fees & Payments, and Sell on StarPlace walks through the whole process.
Is buying and selling like this risky?
Every order runs through escrow: the buyer's money is held by PayPal and only reaches the seller after the item is delivered and receipt is confirmed. Sellers are approved by hand before they can list anything, delivery is made through RSI's own official gifting system, and our team reviews any order that goes wrong, whatever it is worth. Scams exist on every marketplace — escrow is our answer to them, and Safety covers each protection in detail.
