Terms of Service

1. About StarPlace

StarPlace is an independent, global online marketplace that lets people buy and sell giftable Star Citizen items (ships, CCUs, game packages and pledges). StarPlace is operated by the legal entity identified on the Operator Identification page (Brazilian CNPJ 66.180.802/0001-39) and accepts users worldwide. StarPlace is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Cloud Imperium Games (CIG), Cloud Imperium Rights LLC, or Roberts Space Industries (RSI). All Star Citizen and Squadron 42 names, logos, images, 3D models and other assets are the exclusive property of Cloud Imperium Games and/or Roberts Space Industries. StarPlace makes no claim of ownership over any of it. By using StarPlace you agree to these Terms.

Account safety. StarPlace never asks for, accesses or shares account credentials: every delivery is performed by the seller through RSI's own official gifting system.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old (or the higher age of majority in your jurisdiction) and legally able to enter into binding contracts. You must own, or create in your own name, an RSI account through which gifts can be sent and received. You are responsible for keeping your StarPlace account credentials secure and for all activity on your account.

3. What may be traded

Only individual, giftable in-game items may be listed and sold. Selling, buying, sharing or transferring RSI accounts — or providing access to an RSI account — is strictly prohibited and will result in a permanent ban. All deliveries must be made through CIG's official gifting system.

4. How the escrow works

All payments are processed by PayPal as our payment processor and funds custodian. When a buyer pays, PayPal holds the funds under its standard delayed-disbursement terms while the order is in progress. The seller then delivers the item as an official RSI gift and submits proof of delivery. Funds are released to the seller after the buyer confirms receipt on StarPlace, or automatically 7 days after payment — once the seller has submitted proof of delivery — if the buyer takes no action and no dispute is open. The 7-day period starts when the payment is confirmed; the seller's proof does not restart it. If a dispute is opened on StarPlace or a PayPal case is filed, the funds remain held until the case is resolved. See our Refunds & Chargebacks page for the full mechanics.

5. Fees

StarPlace charges a platform commission on each completed sale, denominated in US dollars. The applicable fee is shown to the seller before listing and to the buyer at checkout, and is deducted from the seller's payout. We may change fees with at least 30 days' prior notice on this page or by email; changes do not apply to orders already in progress when the change takes effect.

6. Seller obligations, license and revocation

Sellers must: only list items they actually own and can legitimately gift; provide accurate listings; deliver promptly after payment; submit honest proof of delivery; complete any identity verification we request; keep a valid contact number on file (mandatory); and respond to support and disputes in good faith. Sellers process buyer personal data subject to the Seller Data Processing Addendum.

Seller license. Selling on StarPlace requires an approved application and an active seller license. The one-time license fee (currently US$ 10) is paid as the final step of the seller application and submits it for review — only paid applications are reviewed. The seller account becomes active when our team approves the application. If the application is rejected, the license fee is refunded in full to the applicant's StarPlace wallet balance. Once the account is activated, the license fee is non-refundable.

Revocation. Breaking these Terms or the marketplace rules may result in revocation of the seller license by our team. Upon revocation: all of the seller's listings are paused, selling is disabled, and a new seller application will not be accepted. Revocation does not affect the ability to buy on StarPlace, nor pending payouts or wallet balance, except where fraud is involved.

Reinstatement. Reinstatement after revocation is at our sole discretion and evaluated case by case. When we allow it, the license may be restored upon payment of a one-time, non-refundable reinstatement fine (currently US$ 50). Some revocations are final and not eligible for reinstatement. A repeated revocation is normally final. License fee and fine amounts may change with prior notice on this page; the amount shown at payment time applies.

7. Buyer obligations

Buyers must provide the correct RSI account email for delivery, confirm receipt once the item arrives, and act in good faith. Where a buyer provides an incorrect email, does not respond within the dispute window after demonstrable delivery, or otherwise fails to cooperate, the order may be released to the seller after a documented review in which the buyer is invited to respond.

8. Disputes

If an item is not delivered, is incorrect, or there is any other problem, the buyer may open a dispute on the order. StarPlace staff review the evidence from both sides and decide the outcome. Our decision is binding for the release or refund of the funds held with PayPal, but does not limit any other legal right you may have — including escalating to PayPal Buyer Protection, your card issuer, the consumer authorities of your country, or a competent court.

9. Refunds

Refunds are handled through the dispute process and the channels described in our Refunds & Chargebacks page, which also explains the consumer right of withdrawal applicable to your jurisdiction.

10. Prohibited conduct

You agree not to: (a) sell or buy RSI accounts or account access; (b) commit fraud or abuse chargebacks; (c) circumvent escrow or arrange payment off-platform; (d) create multiple accounts to evade bans, or misuse the support and dispute system; or (e) violate the terms of service of any game, platform or service used in connection with a trade. Violations may lead to immediate suspension or a permanent ban.

11. Suspension and termination

We may suspend or terminate any account that violates these Terms or that we reasonably believe is involved in fraud or abuse. Funds related to suspected fraudulent activity may be withheld during an investigation. Unless we are prohibited by law from doing so (for example, tipping-off rules in an AML investigation), we will notify the account holder, allow them to respond, and reach a final decision within 90 days. After that period, retained funds are either released, refunded, or forwarded to the competent authority.

12. Disclaimers and liability

StarPlace is provided "as is", without warranties of any kind. We do not guarantee the availability, value, or future status of any Star Citizen item, which is governed entirely by CIG/RSI. To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, StarPlace is not liable for indirect or consequential damages.

Support on every order, whatever it is worth. We do not cap our support by the size of the order. A USD 20 CCU and a multi-thousand-dollar capital ship get the same escrow, the same evidence review and the same dispute team, and we work to recover the amount of any order that goes wrong. The money is held by PayPal while the order is in progress, so it can be returned to the buyer or released to the seller according to the outcome of our review.

Indemnification. You agree to indemnify and hold StarPlace harmless against any claim, loss or expense arising from your use of the platform, from the items you list, buy or deliver, or from your breach of a third-party platform's terms of service. This does not extend to anything caused by StarPlace's own act or omission.

Consumer-law carve-out. Nothing in these Terms limits or excludes any right or remedy that you have as a consumer under the mandatory law of your country of habitual residence. In any case of conflict, those mandatory consumer rights prevail over the limitations above.

13. Privacy and data

We collect and process the information you provide to operate the marketplace, verify users, prevent fraud, and provide support. We do not sell your personal data. The full details — what we collect, why, retention periods, your rights under the GDPR, UK GDPR, LGPD, and CCPA, and how to exercise them — are in our Privacy Policy, Cookie Policy, and AML & KYC Policy. Sellers also accept the Seller Data Processing Addendum.

14. Governing law and forum

These Terms are governed by the law of the Federative Republic of Brazil (the jurisdiction of the operating entity). Claims by the operator are brought before the courts of the operator's registered district. Where you act as a consumer, you may always bring claims at the courts of your habitual residence, and mandatory consumer rules of your country apply to the extent they are more protective (Brussels I bis, art. 18(1) for EU consumers; Brazilian CDC art. 101, I; equivalent rules elsewhere).

15. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms. Material changes will be posted on this page with a new "Last updated" date and, when significant, notified to you by email. Continued use of StarPlace after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.
